Babies and back to work

We finally had the chance to meet with our new nanny and she's fabulous. Her name is Julia and grew up on a dairy farm in Ferndale. We clicked instantly and we feel exceptionally re-assured that she'll be caring for Iris for the next year or so.
I have mixed feelings about returning to work. I think overall it will be a positive change. I've had a good long chunk of time off (more than most) and I think it will help my brain to have a few more conversations with adults!

Day out

Yesterday Iris and I walked with my friends Christine and Meghan and their two little ones. We had a lovely stroll along the BG trail from the Locks out to Shilshole. And of course we had to stop for coffee!

PEPS

Here's a picture from our PEPS group. I don't know how we are going to fit all of these people into our house but we'll give it a shot at some point. Funny that all of the babies are almost the same ages, Iris is the second oldest but only by a few days.

the full monty

Iris did it! She slept through the night last night- 9 pm until 5:30 (ate and then right back to sleep until 7:30!) Wow, I never thought it would happen! I know it will be awhile before it's every night but boy, just one night makes all the difference. Of course, I awoke at 4 wondering if she was OK, but even that 6 hour stretch was glorious. I don't know how parents go back to work before the baby gets to full nights. I don't think I would make it.
Speaking of going back to work; we are now embarking on the nanny search for my return to the City in September. I feel overwhelmed by it and I haven't even begun.

Three months in

Three months of parenthood and we still vacillate from confidence to trepidation. It's hard to remember all of those nights up pacing the floor with her in my arms trying to get her to switch to nighttime sleeping. Now she's so aware and observant, reaching for toys and babbling a blue streak.
